BATEMANS Bay Tigers captain coach Michael Elliott was named in a team of Group 7's best players in the past 50 years at the group's presentation this week. Elliott first received the news in the mail three weeks ago, but wasn't able to tell anyone until the presentation night.

"I was a bit shocked actually, it was a bit of an honour," he said. "It was a good night and one of the better group presentations I've been to."
Selectors named a squad of 60 players, from which they came up with a final team of 17, Fullback - Russell Ford snr (Gerringong), wingers - Rod Wishart (Gerringong) and Roy Stewart (Gerringong), centres - David Beckett (Nowra Warriors) and Michael Cronin (Gerringong), five-eighth - Tony Branson (Nowra Warriors), halfback - Ian Jones (Albion Park and Shellharbour), lock - Tommy Fowler (Warilla), second-rowers - Ron Costello (Shellharbour) and Gus Miller (Berry), front-row - John Armstrong (Shellharbour, Berry and Jamberoo) and Paul Quinn (Gerringong) and hooker Cole Skelly (Albion Park and Shell Harbour). Reserves were Bruce Noble (Jamberoo), Bruce Maguire (Nowra Warriors), Greg Sherwin (Milton-Ulladulla) and Michael Elliott.
