They now advance to their third straight grand final, taking on the Bombala Blue Tongues at Bombala on Saturday for the 2010 title.
Coach Matt Ryan said the previous week’s loss to Bombala was just the wake-up call his team needed.
“We worked on a lot of little things during the week at training, and as a result, our attitude was better on and off the field,” he said.
“We concentrated on the basics a fair bit and isolated a few areas we had to work on, and the benefits were seen all over the park.”
While Saturday’s performance was comprehensive, Ryan says his team’s lead-up to the grand final hasn’t been ideal.
“It would be better if we had played good footy over the last couple of weeks, but hopefully we will step up to another level which will enable us to give a good showing,” he said.
The Boars were on the wrong end of a few penalties against Braidwood, but Ryan said that this was just a byproduct of their aggressive, physical style of play.
“We have worked a lot on our discipline, but when you play with such aggression on the ball, you are going to give away some penalties,” he said.
Braidwood have been stubborn opponents to the Boars this season, and Ryan was surprised by the magnitude of the win.
“I told the boys that points would be hard to come by,” Ryan said.
Redbacks captain-coach Craig Coe was impressed with the Batemans Bay performance and believes they have what it takes to win the grand final.
“They had obviously trained hard for the last couple of weeks, as they had a really good game plan and stuck to it,” he said.
”The whole team switched on and executed the plan perfectly.”
While not keen to tip a grand final winner, Coe says that whoever wins will have deserved it.
“By far the two strongest teams in the competition will be playing in the grand final,” he said.“If Batemans Bay can maintain their structured style of play, they are a really good chance.”
A Batemans Bay supporters bus will be leaving the Mariners Hotel at 9.30am on Saturday, at a cost of $20 per person.
