There will be 29 events held at the Moruya Showground and plenty of local bulls will be on show throughout the evening.
“We breed all of our own rodeo bulls,” Moruya Rodeo president Andy Mehl said.
Around 45 Moruya bulls – all of which have been bred on the Mullenderree Flat property – will take part in Sunday’s rodeo in front of what organisers hope will be a bumper crowd.
“There’ll be plenty of people and we’re expecting a fairly packed house – weather permitting, of course,” Mehl said.
The rodeo’s president said a good crowd would consist of “a few thousand” people.
New Year’s Eve party-goers will still be able to enjoy a solid sleep in, as proceedings don’t get underway until 4pm when the novice barrel race will start.
The main attraction – the open bull ride second round – will wrap up the rodeo at around 9.30pm.
But the celebrations won’t stop there as there will be a disco and live music kicking on until 1am on Monday.
However, the dancing shoes will have to wait until after the serious stuff.
Competitors will need to be at the top of their games come Sunday, especially with the likes of Ben Jones set to take part.
Jones is a member of the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) and regularly takes part in elite events in the United States.
And Mehl said his presence will take things up a notch.
“There should be some good competition throughout the day,” he said.
“Especially as we have Benny Jones coming again.”
The rodeo has become an iconic date on Moruya’s calendar over the past few decades and Mehl paid tribute to the way the community gets behind the event.
“The community helps us out really well with sponsorship and the locals always come through the gate,” he said.
Spectators will be seated comfortably in the main grand stand and refreshments will be available for purchase throughout the evening.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for kids under 12.
