The interstate series begins this afternoon, and the Broulee under 23 women’s crew, the Lifejackets, will be there representing NSW.
The girls will have plenty of confidence after their South Coast Boat Series win at the weekend, even if a big swell has been forecast.
“It’s going to be pretty exciting,” sweep Rob Pollock said.
Pollock said that the swell was more likely to help than hinder the Lifejackets.
“They went well at the Best of the Best at Wanda, so they are pretty confident in the big surf,” he said.
“They will be attacking it with confidence.”
The club’s under 19 men’s crew, have been selected to row for Tasmania.
It will be a busy time for Pollock, and he will be the sweep for both crews.
Batemans Bay SLSC will have two and possibly three crews competing in Wollongong.
The club’s men’s reserve crew, the Deviants, will be full of confidence after their South Coast Boat Series win on the weekend, and will take a lot of beating.
The ladies’ masters crew, the One Life Warriors, will compete on Friday.
“They’re pumped up and ready to go,” sweep Neil Innes said.
However, it is not certain that the Batemans Bay SLSC under 23 men’s crew, the Fortescues, will compete this weekend, as rower Alex Innes suffered a nasty injury after treading on a spike at the final round of the South Coast Boat Series at Woonona at the weekend.
“It got him pretty good, and he’s still in agony,” sweep and father Neil Innes said.
“If he can’t row, we will pull the crew out.”
