The Batemans Bay Seahawks may have knocked over defending SCAFL premiers the Merimbula Diggers at Merimbula on Saturday, but coach Brett Pedder was far from thrilled with the 12.12.84 to 10. 8. 68 win.

“I was not overly pleased, no,” he said.
“We started off well, but by quarter-time we had got back to our older habits.”
Pedder said his team was still not sticking to their game plan.
“We keep turning the ball over, and that’s something we really have to work on,” he said.
There were still positives to take away from the win, according to Pedder.
“It’s still an away win, and any away win is a good one,” he said.
“We won all three grades, and that’s good for the club.”
Pedder said the Diggers had improved since the week before, when they were beaten by 31 goals by Tathra.
Batemans Bay were without Shaun Green, and his defence was sorely missed.
“We still haven’t got a fully settled side,” Pedder said.
The Diggers’ stubborn resistance may work in the Seahawks’ favour in future games.
“Winning like this is better than winning by 20 goals every week,” Pedder said.
For the first time in years, Batemans Bay has passed on the mantle of premiership favouritism to the Tathra Sea Eagles, who beat Eden by 265 points on Saturday.
“It’s good because it gets the guys out of their complacency, and they realise that things aren’t just going to happen, they have to make them happen,” Pedder said.
“We have been on top for so long. This will be character building.”
Batemans Bay’s best players included Matthew Hulme, Taeg Rosevear, James Cornall, Adam Bradbury, Josh Veneris and Pat Moore.
Goal kickers were Bradbury, Moore, Brent Lindeback, Corey Cutmore, Jamie Kemp and Hulme.
The depth of the Seahawks was clearly illustrated by the reserve grade team’s 16.11.107 to 1.3.9 win over the Diggers, and the under 17s’ 15.7.97 to 3.4.22 win over their Merimbula counterparts.
