Big cannabis haul at Malua
Cannabis worth more than $136,000 was seized by Batemans Bay police last Friday as part of an ongoing investigation by the Far South Coast Target Action Group.
The drugs were discovered after police acted on information from the public and executed a search warrant at a Euroka Avenue residence in Malua Bay. Far South Coast crime manager Kevin McNeil described the cannabis plants as being in a non-sophisticated set-up.
The drugs were at different stages of development and two grams of dried cannabis was also discovered at the residence.
A 31-year-old man was charged with cultivating and possessing a prohibited drug and will appear in Batemans Bay Local Court at a later date.
A member of the public supplied information leading to the drug seizure. Inspector McNeil said police always ask the public for information about illegal activities.
