Police from Far South Coast Local Area Command have been told the incident happened in a car-park on the Princes Highway, Narooma, about 10.30pm on Monday.
It’s alleged a 20-year-old man was driving his white Hyundai sedan around the car-park with another man, also aged 20, sitting on the bonnet.
The second man fell from the bonnet and was knocked unconscious when his head hit the roadway.
He was taken to Moruya Hospital then transferred to Canberra Hospital. He is now reported to be in a stable condition.
As investigations begin into the circumstances surrounding how the man came to be injured, police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Far South Coast duty officer, Inspector Angela Burnell, has warned against risk-taking behaviour.
“This may have started as a skylark but has ended with a young man seriously injured,” Insp Burnell said.
“We are now speaking with the driver to establish why this man was on the bonnet of his car; we urge anyone who may have seen the incident, or the events leading up to the man being injured, to contact police.
“Investigators are awaiting the results of mandatory blood and urine tests as inquiries continue,” Insp Burnell said.
