Night work had been carried out from Sunday to replace a damaged haul rope and make improvements to the lift span opening system.
The bridge could not be opened to large vessels while this work was carried out.
For the past two nights, Roads and Maritime Services carried out testing on the upper limits of the lift and the span.
Bridge mechanics will remain on site this weekend to ensure any unexpected incident can be rectified as soon as possible.
Roads and Maritime thanks motorists for their patience while this essential maintenance work was carried out.
