Council are hosting a free breakfast at The Rivermouth Store, in Tomakin, as a part of the Hey Tosser! campaign, which targets roadside rubbish blown from utes and small trucks.
Surveys conducted by the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) show roadside litter is commonly lightweight trade and building waste, blown from poorly secured ute, truck and trailer loads.
Council has used EPA funding to provide free breakfasts and trailer covers as part of an education program about the importance of properly securing loads of green and building waste.
A similar breakfast was held at Sufbeach Cafe, Narooma, Shelley’s Takeaway, in Moruya, and Bunning in Batemans Bay over the last few months. This is the last of the planned breakfasts.
The Hey Tosser! campaign is a part of a wider effort to keep the Eurobodalla clean.
The council and NSW Roads and Maritime Services staff continue to clean up targeted roads in the region, and council rangers are specifically target littering from vehicles.
The community can report littering from vehicles directly to council rangers on 4474 1000 or online: www.epa.nsw.gov.au/litter/from-vehicle.htm
