Liberal Andrew Constance has claimed top place on the ballot paper for Gilmore, with seven candidates set to run in the marginal seat at next month's federal election.

The former state Liberal minister's main rival in the South Coast-based seat - Labor's Fiona Phillips ended up at the bottom of the paper.
The draw on Friday to determined the order of names on the ballot for Gilmore, Cunningham and Whitlam was held at Port Kembla.
Independent and former Shoalhaven City Councillor Nina Digiglio claimed second spot on the Gilmore ballot, Greens Carmel McCallum the number three position, United Australia Party's Jordan Maloney number four, One Nation's Jeremy Eid number five, Liberal Democrats' Adrian Fadani number six, followed by the incumbent Gilmore MP, Labor's Fiona Phillips.

Mr Constance thought positions on the ballot paper didn't matter too much.
"No, because the community's smart, the community knows who they're voting for," Mr Constance said.
"The only thing that I would urge and remind everybody about is you've got to number every square. It's not the state election where you only had to vote in one box, you've got to fill out every box."
The major parties won the top spot on all three ballot papers - Contstance for Gilmore, Labor's Stephen Jones, for Whitlam and Liberals' Marcus Uren for Cunningham.
