Residents and staff of the independent living village, United Aged Care's Symons House in Nowra, are also being monitored after the Labor leader and the press pack also visited the facility as part of the visit to the Shoalhaven.

Mr Albanese tested positive during a routine PCR test on Thursday night before heading to Western Australia to continue campaigning.

Mr Albanese was in the Gilmore electorate with Mrs Phillips and Shadow Minister for Industrial Relations Tony Burke, visiting both the Manildra's Group's Shoalhaven Starches operation in Bomaderry and then later the independent living village.

Uniting Head of Village Services Keith Morgan said staff and residents at Uniting's Symons House in Nowra are taking precautions, including testing, cleaning and monitoring for symptoms.

"Uniting has ensured 100 per cent of our staff and contractors are fully vaccinated against COVID-19," Mr Morgan said.

"Uniting NSW.ACT has been made aware Mr Albanese has tested positive during a routine PCR test after spending the day on Thursday campaigning in the seat of Gilmore, during which he visited Uniting's Symons House, Retirement Living Village in Nowra.

"Following Mr Albanese's positive COVID result, staff and residents at Uniting's Symons House in Nowra will take precautions which include testing, cleaning and monitoring for symptoms."

Mrs Phillips said she is "currently testing negative" but "will continue to monitor for symptoms over coming days, as per NSW Health directions".

"I'm looking forward to continuing to campaign for the election of an Albanese Labor government," she said.
