Will the processes involved in the short listing of applicants be a 'Transparent and Publicly Responsible One', involving all nine of the current councilors, has has been case in the past?
Will the final choice of the applicant be a 'transparent one ' involving all the nine elected peoples representatives, as has been past practice?
If that isn't to be the case, how will a choice be made and which of the elected representatives of the public will be involved ?

Environment an 'extremely important matter'
Our Federal Coalition Government is having a great deal to say about the economy and jobs in relation to the forthcoming Federal election. And so they should be as the economy and jobs are, of course, of prime importance.
But there are so many other extremely important matters, related to the environment, that somehow seem to not be on the radars of our Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce
I expect that at the time of our coming Federal election, on May 21, a great many Australian's will see that although the economy and jobs are essential, so also is being able to have clean air to breath, a stable climate and laws that properly protect our fragile, and in many ways endangered, environment.

Worse than a gaffe
Some things are a lot worse than a "gaffe".
For example:
- ignoring key recommendations of the Aged Care Royal Commission including very low rates of pay, chronic understaffing leading in many cases to lack of basic care
- such as toileting and showering ,clean bedding, poor food and nutrition, and a litany of other dreadful issues in our care of our cherished elders.
- callous persistence with Robodebt, found by the court to be illegal
- lack of serious action to address climate change thus exposing our kids and future generations to calamitous consequences
- rort after rort called out by the Auditor General in grants programs heavily biased to favour Lib/Nats reaching nearly $1 billion.
- breaking promises for an independent and effective anti-corruption integrity body thereby avoiding scrutiny of actions and a means of calling those involved to account
There are a lot of other issues you could reasonably judge to be much more serious and of far greater consequence than a "gaffe", but throughout the past week this was the major election issue for media. What hope is there for a decent and caring society if this is the level of our election discourse.

'Nobody should be left behind'
Re "Seeking solutions", Narooma News April 13.
There are solutions Mr Prime Minister! Affordable housing is one of life's essentials and needs to be tackled head on.
Resident-owned communities have been operating in the US for decades. 75 per cent of all apartments in the New York City area are owned by residents themselves.
Florida has 700 such resident-owned communities providing affordable housing for 160,000 families. Under these projects, here in Australia, anyone wanting a roof over their heads could be accommodated for less than $200,000.
It's time the pollies got their heads out of the sand and looked after everyone needing a home. There are lots of votes in this. Nobody should be left behind!
