Race coordinator Julie Hartley said some ducks were spotted recently ducking down to the creek to train, while others have had a bill job and an overdue make-over to ensure they look their best for the race.
With the assistance of onlookers, 1,000 ducks will be dropped off Narooma Bridge at about 8.30am to race downstream. The time is estimated to catch the best of the outgoing tide.
"'We're hoping for perfect weather, good crowds and a quick (but not too quick) race downstream to the Apex Park boat ramp finish line," Mrs Hartley said.
The first duck across the line wins $1,000 for the person who bought the ticket with the same number; the last duck $100.
Independent judges will be appointed to determine the first and the last across the line.
Proceeds will assist the new Narooma Prostate Cancer Support Group.
