Children of all ages can run away with the circus, if only for a day, when the Curbside Carnies Mobile Circus joins the Bega Cheese Cup Carnival over the weekend of January 29-30.
Kids will be able to take part in a range of circus workshops including bubble-making, stilt-walkers, juggling unicyclists, face-painting and circus shows.
Performers Benny O the magician, Briony the bubble faery, Spinderella the Disco Queen and the Tina Green Show will be brought down from Wollongong and Sydney just for the occasion as well.
Turf club president Robyn Bain was excited to welcome back a circus to the venue, having been unable to source performers in the region since the pandemic began.
On top of the Curbside Carnies, the Bega Cheese Cup Carnival will feature over $500,000 in prize money and a Saturday night calcutta at Club Sapphire.
A visit from the Lexus Melbourne Cup trophy and ambassadors will also be a special attraction.
The prestigious Melbourne Cup was scheduled to visit the Sapphire Coast in August last year but the regional tour was cancelled amid COVID lockdowns
Meanwhile, last month's Tathra Cup race day was enjoyed by a great crowd bedecked in their summer best.
Turf Club marketing coordinator Jess O'Donnell said the Hawaiian theme made for a a great day of locals and visitors alike enjoying picnics on the lawn while watching the races.
"You could tell people were happy to be allowed out and to socialise again - it was a really great day," she said.
As part of the day, the turf club made a special presentation of $1000 to the Sapphire Coast Youth Development Fund, a non-profit assisting Bega Valley youth achieve their goals in sporting and artistic endeavours.
