There were 32,006 residential and non-residential electors enrolled in the Eurobodalla Shire on election day , meaning just over 37 per cent of the vote had been counted.

As per the most recent update from the NSW Electoral Commission at 2.55pm on Monday, Advance Eurobodalla candidate Mat Hatcher is leading the first-preference vote with 20.74%, or 2,333, of the 11,866 votes that have been counted.

However, that percentage has come down from almost 25% on Saturday night.

Independent candidate Rob Pollock has been the big mover on Monday, and now has 20.07%, or 2257, of the first-preference votes.

Karyn Starmer of the Mayne Team (15.97%), David Grace of Labor (15.03%) and Tubby Harrison of A Better Council (13.25%) are all within striking distance, and the Greens Alison Worthington (12.77%) isn't far behind.

Candidate Gary Smith is languishing behind at 2.18%, or 245, of the first-preference votes.

The Mayoral race works on a optional preferential basis, meaning we won't have an official result until one candidate receives more than 50% of the total vote.

If that doesn't happen after the first count, the votes of the lowest candidate would then be re-distributed based on their second preference.

This would continue until one candidate has 50% plus one of the vote.

The elections for other council positions are also close, but Mat Hatcher's Advance Eurobodalla group has a slight advantage at 23.93% of the vote as of 1.10pm on Monday.

Rob Pollock's group has 17.87% of the vote, The Mayne Team has 16.60%, and Labor has 15.73%.

The Greens (11.75%), A Better Council (9.83%) and James Thomson's group (4.29%) have some ground to make up.

Also of note is the high percentage of informal votes in the Eurobodalla Shire. The Mayoral vote had a percentage of 5.22%, but the council elections are carrying a whopping 15.16% of informal votes.
