His stunning work 'We are Conjola' has recently collected more awards.
Two weeks ago the work won the Supreme Jury prize for best feature at the Melbourne Documentary Film Awards.
Then last Friday at the Global Independent Film Awards it won Bronze for Best Feature Documentary and Silver for the Environmental Award.
The Global Independent Film Awards is a film festival and film awards competition dedicated to recognising filmmakers and actors for high-quality work.
Some of the films selected at the Global Independent Film Awards have later gone on to win many prestigious film awards including the Academy Awards.
Ash says little film is still punching above its weight.
He was also delighted with his success at the Melbourne Documentary Film Awards.
"What makes this news [success at the Melbourne Documentary Film Award] particularly amazing is that our film was up against other bushfire films plus amazing films from around the world, many of which were properly funded," he said.
"We are Conjola was mostly funded by the community, many of whom had lost everything.
"This makes the result very special for all of us.
"Special shout-outs as well goes to to Rotary Club of Milton-Ulladulla, D9705, Australia, Culture Bank Wollongong Documentary Australia Foundation and Convoy of Hope Australia for their support.
"Again, thanks to all who made this possible."
