Bodalla Pub publican Ron 'Jacko' Jackson and his wife Sue were happy to see people dancing in the beer garden.
Jacko took over the historic hotel two years ago pouring is first been on November 20, 2019 and serving his first meals one month later.
Surrounded by the black summer bushfires he closed the doors of the hotel on December, 26, 2019.
Flooding followed the fires and within months businesses began feeling the effects of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.
With hardly any government assistance, money has been tight for the Jackson's with the second lockdown stretching the couple financially to the limit.
"To survive we had to input a lot of our personal funds and money was very tight," Jacko said. "We're not complaining because there are businesses out there doing it much tougher.
"In the beginning we had 11 people working for us and those 11 people basically volunteered their time to keep the pub clean and operational when we could only do takeaways.
"Their generosity of their own time has been exceptional and 10 of those people have now been re-employed.
"It's not only our staff that have been supportive, the locals have been with us through the whole journey and without their support the outcome could have been very different, " he said.
"We are now thankful things are opening and we are looking forward to greeting as many people as we can."
