In November, Eurobodalla Health Service speech pathologists will partner with Eurobodalla Libraries to run the sessions as part of Speech Pathology Australia's national Speechie Library Talks.
Speech Pathology Australia says one in five four-year-olds, around 20 per cent, have difficulty understanding or using language, and 14 per cent of 15-year-olds have only basic literacy skills.
The Speechie Library Talks are being held around Australia to help engage young readers and help build language and literacy skills.
Parents, carers and others with an interest can learn ways to build language and literacy, how to choose the right books and encourage interaction, support multilingual children through reading and what to do if their child is having difficulties with reading.
The free talks will be themed according to the age of interest; 3-5-year-olds and 0-3-year-olds.
Batemans Bay Library: The 0-3 years talk will be held Tuesday, November 16, 10.30-11.30am. The 3-5 years talk on Tuesday, November 23, 10.30-11.30am.
Moruya Library: The 3-5 years talk will be held Wednesday, November 24, 10.30-11.30am.
Narooma Library: The 0-3 years talk will be held Thursday, November 25, 10.30-11.30am.
