Vehicles are moving faster, people are moving faster and there seems to be a need to cram more into each day.

Finding time to get through the daily expectations has increased and I have noted that, personally, I am at a point where I have to drop something to fit in other things that have now gained priority.

At one point I considered dropping my morning walk with my dog. Fortunately, I thought better and have continued this most enjoyable daily activity.

My reason for ensuring it remain on my schedule was largely because my persuasive pooch would never have allowed it. But also because I quickly realised that this walk has become a perfect time for me to step away from the demands of each day.

It has become the time during which I enjoy free thinking and an appreciation of the simple things in life. I listen to the birds, admire the spring blossoms (see picture), say hello to others on the daily walk and revel in the enjoyment of my four-legged fur baby as he engages with other dogs and sniffs just about everything along the path.

And on one of my most recent walks I had a Goldilocks moment. The weather was not too cold, not too hot - it was just right. The same applied to the sights and sounds along the way.

It was at that very moment that I realised the value of my daily walks and the importance of stepping away from the grind - even if only for a short time - to appreciate the simple things in life.

With renewed conviction I note that the world may have suddenly moved into a faster lane but it is important to sometimes veer into the slower lane and appreciate those Goldilocks moments where things are 'just right'.
