The Athlete's Foot, a store that specialises in sports shoes, will open in the Bay Village Centre on November 27, opposite ALDI.
Jazmine Thomas, Athlete's Foot's area manager who will be looking after the new store, said the store had been in the pipeline for about six months.
"I received confirmation about six weeks ago that we were ready to go (with the new store)," she said.
"We see Batemans Bay, and the entire Eurobodalla Shire, as a huge opportunity for us as a business, but we also see what we can provide for the community.
"We are predominantly a running shoe store, but we also do things like football boots, netball shoes, kids shoes, and a big part of our business is school shoes."
Ms Thomas she had already hired six casual staff for the store and an assistant manager, and expected to add at least 20 jobs to the Batemans Bay economy over the next 18 months.
"We are recruiting at the moment," she said.
"A lot of businesses will let the store run their own race, but I'll be quite heavily involved.
"I expect to be down there at least twice a month which I'm excited about because my grandparents live in Moruya."
And although Ms Thomas acknowledged a pandemic was not the perfect circumstance to open a new business, she said the support from stores in other states allowed the Batemans Bay store to open.
"We're quite a big business," she said.
"Even though NSW and Victoria have been heavily affected this time around, we're still running stores in all the other states and territories.
"We know there's a light at the end of the tunnel and this pandemic won't last forever, so we're more than willing to continue our growth and not let a pandemic get in the way."
