Plan for the bypass is progressing with the concept design and environmental assessment.
Additional investigations, including geotechnical, ecological and heritage, are underway to better understand the conditions and constraints of the area and to minimise impacts.
The concept design and environmental assessment will identify a more detailed design for the bypass.
The design and location of connection points to the bypass, including the southern connection at Burrill Lake will be considered as this phase of development continues.
With planning work still progressing, a timeframe for construction of the eagerly awaited bypass is yet to be confirmed.
A Transport for NSW spokesperson did confirm the Burrill Lake Community Co-design Committee, an independent group of community stakeholders, residents, government agencies and transport representatives, would play an important role in the process.
"The committee is designed to facilitate open and robust conversations about the information presented and allow opinions to be expressed freely within a safe, confidential environment," the spokesperson said.
"As such, each committee member agreed not to comment publicly on the committee's deliberations until the process is complete.
"Transport for NSW is putting the community at the centre of this process to help deliver an option that will balance the needs of all transport users alongside the qualities and amenities that makes Burrill Lake special to locals, and appealing and accessible for visitors."
Five people from the local area, along with representatives from the Ulladulla Local Aboriginal Land Council, Burrill Lake Community Association, Ulladulla District Forum, Lake Tabourie Ratepayers and Residents Association, Milton Ulladulla Historical Society and the Lions Club have joined Transport for NSW and Shoalhaven City Council in the committee.
Committee members are encouraged to discuss items raised with the community groups they're representing and provide feedback to the committee.
