A combined effort from healthcare workers and the entire Eurobodalla Shire community has seen the district lead the charge in the South East when it comes to COVID-19 vaccination rates.

Data released by the Federal Department of Health showed a huge 94.5 per cent of people aged 15-years and over had received one dose 66.2 per cent were fully vaccinated as of Tuesday, September 28.
The high vaccination rates inched the shire closer to the 80 per cent double dose target which will see eased restrictions and some normality returned.

Mayor Liz Innes said she was "absolutely not surprised" by how the shire had responded to getting vaccinated as a way out of the COVID-19 crisis.
"We have the most wonderful, conscientious community in the Eurobodalla Shire," she said.
"The adversity we have all been through with the horrific bushfires, and how we've dealt with COVID, I am incredibly proud of everyone in this shire who have stepped up and supported each other."
Katungul Aboriginal Corporation Regional Health and Community Services CEO Kayleen Brown said a number of successful vaccine clinics had seen an increase in vaccine uptake.
"Katungul has been working closely with the Local Health District of NSW Health to provide more opportunities for community to be vaccinated," she said.
"Katungul has tripled the vaccine rates over the last three weeks and continue to work with community to provide pop up clinics.
"We anticipate more of the Aboriginal community will be vaccinated over coming weeks with many second dosage appointments already commencing for some of our clients."
