Whether it's a picnic for five, or a trip to a cafe or hairdresser when restrictions ease, residents will need to show proof of their full vaccination or miss out.
Currently, proof of COVID-19 vaccination is available from the Australian Immunisation register, in both smartphone and printout format for those who do not have a smartphone.
An NSW Health spokesperson said the finer details of the roadmap vaccine were being worked through.
"There will be requirements in place to ensure only those who have received both doses of the COVID- 19 vaccine can take advantage of the freedoms," they said.
"Further information will be provided as we get closer to 70 per cent of our population being double vaccinated.
"From September 13, people aged 16 or older should carry proof of COVID-19 vaccination with them when enjoying new outdoor gathering freedoms for those who have been vaccinated."
The spokesperson said the public health order included allowances for lawful medical exemptions for people not to be vaccinated where there was a rare medical contraindication to all the available COVID-19 vaccines.
"In these cases, the person must carry a medical contraindication certificate," they said.
"A medical contraindication certificate means a certificate issued by a medical practitioner.
"The certificate from the medical practitioner must: be in a form approved by the Chief Health Officer, and certifying that because of a rare medical contraindication, the person cannot have a COVID-19 vaccine"
NSW Health warned people gathering would need to have proof of vaccination otherwise fines could apply.
How do I get my proof of vaccination?
- Download your COVID-19 digital certificate on the Express Plus Medicare mobile app or your Medicare online account through myGov.
- You can add your COVID-19 digital certificate to your Apple Wallet or Google Pay. Instructions are available on the Services Australia website.
- If you can't get proof online, your vaccination provider can print your immunisation history statement for you.
- Call the Australian Immunisation Register on 1800 653 809 (Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm) and ask for your statement to be sent to you. It can take up to 14 days to arrive in the post.
- If you're not eligible for Medicare you can call the Australian Immunisation Register and request your certificate be mailed to you or add your COVID-19 certificate to your digital wallet using the Individual Healthcare Identifiers service (IHI service) through myGov.
