With a strong cold front passing through southern parts of the state today, the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) expects a very high chance of rain for the Illawarra, Shoalhaven and Batemans Bay region on Monday afternoon.

On Monday, Temperatures are expected to reach a high of 25-27 degrees Celsius in the South Coast with a chance of a gusty thunderstorm in the afternoon.

From Tuesday and until the end of the week, Nowra's temperatures will drop to highs of 12-15 °C and lows of 7-8°C. Showers are possible on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

In Ulladulla, temperatures will remain steady with highs of 13-17 °C and lows of 10 °C with windy and rainy days on Tuesday and Wednesday followed by possible showers for the rest of the week.

Temperatures in Batemans Bay will reach as low as 4 °C through the week. Highs will maintain at 14-18 °C and rains will ease after the low system dissipates Tuesday.

A strong and cold south to south-westerly wind will follow in the cold front's wake and will strengthen further on Tuesday as a low pressure system develops around the southern Australian coastline. Winds will ease off around mid week as the system drifts east.

On the Bateman's coast, winds will further strengthen to gale during the latter part of Tuesday and peter out mid week.

The BoM issued strong wind and hazardous surf warnings for Tuesday for Illawarra and Batemans coasts with swell in the Batemans coast expected to increase from one to two metres to three to five metres in the afternoon.

Large and powerful surf conditions in the afternoon and evening are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as crossing bars by boat and rock fishing.
