A 25-year-old man will face Blacktown Local Court today after being charged over the alleged assault and carjacking of an elderly man in Moruya last week.

Just after 2.20pm on Tuesday, July 20, emergency services were called to a carpark on Vulcan Street, Moruya, after reports of an alleged assault.
Police were told an 83-year-old man was in the carpark when he was approached by an unknown male who allegedly knocked him to the ground and stole his car keys, before fleeing the scene in the man's vehicle.
The elderly man was treated at the scene for knee and arm injuries, before he was taken to Moruya Hospital in a stable condition. He has since been released.
South Coast Police District officers commenced an investigation into the incident.
Following extensive enquiries, detectives attended a home in the Sydney suburb of Doonside and found a man hiding under a bed, just after 3pm on Tuesday, July 27.
The man was arrested and taken to Blacktown Police Station, where he was charged with aggravated robbery.
He was refused bail to appear in Blacktown Local Court on Wednesday, July 28.
The elderly man's vehicle has since been recovered at a shopping centre carpark in Blacktown, along with his car keys and phone.
