The road will stay closed until Friday, August 20, postponing the project a further six weeks than originally scheduled.
According to a council release, the reason for the delay was cooler weather preventing excess moisture in the road sub-base from drying out, making the road unsuitable for sealing.

The road was first closed on Monday, May 24 for council to work on strengthening and widening the road section and Garlandtown Bridge.
The $2.8 million project was expected to take just five weeks.
But, wet weather delayed the works with council officers promising to open the road as soon as it was safe to do so.
Commuters must continue to use the Princes Highway and Broulee Road to access Moruya Airport, the racecourse or the speedway.
