A development application has been lodged to open the first F45 Training on the Far South Coast in the Batemans Bay Homemaker's Centre.
If approved, the personal-training service would be the newest tenants in the recently rebuilt centre that was devastated by fire just over 18 months ago.
The applicant for the DA, Emily Hill, told the Bay Post she was hoping to be open in September if everything is approved by the council.
In a letter included with the DA, Ms Hill said the anticipation was for the studio to have between 150-200 members within the first 18 months of operation.
If approved, the new facility would be led by head trainer John McFadyen, who has almost four years with the chain.
Mr McFadyen started with the Wodonga F45 before becoming the head trainer at the Seaforth F45 on Sydney's Northern Beaches.
It's a perfect place for us to start, and I'm keen to see how it goes.
- John McFadyen
"I love F45, I love what they stand for, and the community feel," he said.
"When this opportunity came up, I jumped at the idea. On of mine and my partner's goals is to start our own F45 from scratch, and build it up.
"It's a perfect place for us to start, and I'm keen to see how it goes."
Mr McFadyen had never been to Batemans Bay before a trip south last month, but said he "loved it straight away".
"I went down there to check out the area, and I loved it straight away," he said.
"My partner grew up in Canberra and used to holiday in Batemans Bay all the time, so I knew it would work down there.
"We're still in Sydney at this stage waiting for a confirmed opening date, but we want to get down there to meet the community and members who have already signed up, and run some track events around town to show what F45 is before we open our doors.
"We'll obviously have to abide by the rules (in relation to COVID) - hopefully it won't be an issue, but it's just another thing we'll need to pass."
F45 is a group-based personal-training service based on "functional movement" according to Mr McFadyen.
"The best thing about it is everyone is doing the same workout on the same day," he said.
It's for all fitness levels, and it's easy to scale it back or make it harder depending on the individual.
- John McFadyen
"Everyone is feeling the same pain and having the same amount of fun, and they can all share those experiences.
"The F stands for 'functional', so everything is based on functional movements, or movements found in everyday life.
"It's for all fitness levels, and it's easy to scale it back or make it harder depending on the individual."
Mr McFadyen encouraged everyone to "give it a go".
"Before you make up your mind (about F45), come down and give it a go," he said.
"I can guarantee you'll love it."
