Marine Rescue Batemans Bay was responding to another call out when they received the call for help on Sunday, July 25.
The trio had left from Mossy Point but became stranded offshore when the engine of their 3.9 metre runabout failed.
A forecast of gale force winds coming through meant two Marine Rescue crews and lifesavers respond quickly to the call out.
Marine Rescue Monaro regional operations manager Glenn Sullivan emergency services personnel jumped to action, along with the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter.
"Because of the prevailing wind conditions, the boat was pushed out further to sea when the engine failed," he said.
"While we were finalising the assistance in the Bay, Surf Life Saving deployed their assets and provided assistance until we could get there."
All three passengers were transferred by Surf Life Saving jet ski on to rescue vessel Batemans 30 for the trip back to Hanging Rock, while the runabout was towed.
"All of them were wearing lifejackets which is obviously a plus we like to see and everyone got back to shore safely," Mr Sullivan said.
"It's a reminder for everyone to log on and off with Marine Rescue, make sure your safety equipment is up to date, and be across the weather forecast."
