Crews, including those based on the South Coast, launched almost 100 rescue missions in response to life-threatening emergencies over the month, up from 79 in May.
These were among 218 operations in June, with 515 people, including 27 children, returned safely to shore. Our radio operators up and down the coast managed more than 20,000 marine radio transmissions.
Fifty-six percent of operations were sparked by the familiar trifecta of flat batteries, fuel issues and engine failures.
Three boaters made Mayday calls, while 13 boats were grounded, six capsized and two search operations were launched for missing people.
Runabouts were the most represented vessels in our statistics for the month (93) and the most common activities boaters were enjoying before running into strife were fishing (85) and cruising (41).
While Logging On is a free service provided by Marine Rescue NSW, you can't put a value on your safety.
Boaters are reminded that they can log on quickly and easily by calling on VHF Channel 16 or using the free Marine Rescue App.
Let us know where you're going, how many people are on board and when you plan to be back onshore so we can keep watch for your safe return.
Thanks to all our volunteers who were on a shift in the radio base or on the water and carrying out the many essential support roles needed to ensure their unit remained rescue-ready to save lives on the water.
