In Batemans Bay, Ulladulla and Nowra the temperature will reach just 14 on Wednesday with showers expected.
The Bureau issued a sheep graziers warning for the Illawarra and South Coast with cold temperatures, rain and strong southwesterly winds expected on Wednesday and Thursday.
On Thursday, snow is expected to fall in areas above 800 metres, with overnight temperatures falling to between 2 and 7 and daytime temperatures reaching between 10 and 15.
Snow showers are expected in Selwyn, Cabramurra and Cooma, with Jinabyne, Charlotte's Pass, Perisher and Thredbo all expected to get a healthy dusting as the official ski season begins this long weekend.
South Coast fire stations reminded the public to look over these winter fire safety tips:
- Keep everything one metre from the heater and never use an outdoor heater inside.
- Before you turn the clothes dryer on, clean out the lint filter first and never operate a dryer if you aren't home.
- Popping the electric blanket on the bed? Check the cords are not frayed and there are no hot spots.
- Don't have an electric blanket? Don't even think about using that wheat bag under the doona.
