The Mollymook Surf Lifesaving Club, who have been a part of the Surfboat Fraternity since the 1959-60 season, will be hosting the National Australian Surf Rowers League Carnival.
The event, which was pushed back by the Australian Surf Rowers League's (ASRL) committee due to border restrictions, will be running across three days from Friday, March 5 to Sunday, March 7.
Organisers have confirmed 345 lifesaving crews have entered, with almost 1700 people to compete.
Commanding a high level of fitness and skill, surf rowing complements a set of competencies required of volunteer surf life savers, which includes obtaining the Bronze Medallion qualification to be able to patrol beaches.
There are many divisions of racing across the event - including open male, open female, reserve male, reserve female, under 23 male, under 23 female, under 19 male, under 19 female and masters.
The event also features Australia and New Zealand representative crews doing battle in a Trans-Tasman challenge, the Interstate championship.
The winner of each division to be crowned on Sunday, while the masters will be on Friday.
Mollymook SLSC is looking for volunteers to help run the event. If you can assist, please contact the following so the organising committee can formulate a roster to ensure the carnival runs smoothly.
To be involved in the work party contact Les O'Sullivan on 0417 655 401.
