The design of the bridge for the planned Moruya bypass should reflect the vibrancy of the community, according to business chamber president Tim Dalrymple.

"So often, when we build this new infrastructure, it is plain and uninspiring," he said.
"But if we incorporated some design elements to reflect the district it would be uplifting."
Mr Dalrymple said the delay in planning the bypass offered an opportunity for the community to get behind a push to have some design elements included in the bridge itself, or in the off ramps from the bypass.
He said he was inspired by an image of the Dragon Bridge in Danang, Vietnam, which popped up on his computer one day.
"I saw a photo of the Dragon Bridge in Da Nang, Vietnam and was amazed how it told a story and linked the bridge to the culture of Vietnam," he said.
"I just thought, that is so cool. Wouldn't it be great if our new bridge could be a work of art and not just more bloody concrete?
"I'll say from the outset that I'm not a bridge designer but it would be nice if we could have something added to the new bridge that identified it as part of the Moruya district."

Mr Dalrymple wants the whole community to put its heads together to come up with ideas.

A vigorous supporter of the Moruya bypass since its announcement in 2019, Mr Dalrymple said he'd also be keen to see an artistic theme added to the bypass off ramps.
He pointed to the Light Horse Sculpture Parade on the M7 motorway in Sydney as an example. It includes a series of plumed markers as a nod to the famous plumed slouch hats worn by the Lighthorsemen.
Mr Dalrymple is hoping to generate a groundswell of support for the idea well before detailed planning gets underway. He said Moruya Rotary was on board.
"If you don't ask, you won't get," he said, adding that having the local Member of Parliament Andrew Constance as Transport Minister was an advantage.
