In the book you will discover that no 63 Hawdon Street was originally built as a hotel and became a maternity home before it became a family home. You will also learn the names of the people who lived there and where they came from.
You may be surprised that a house in Page Street was once two story but the owner Mr Preddey decided two houses were better than one and removed the second story and relocated it further up the street. No problem was insurmountable for Mr. Preddey. The Amusu Theatre in Vulcan Street was yet another problem he could easily solve. When the roof was found to be too low to meet cinema regulations well just jack the roof up another 6 foot, no problem.

'Definitely not giving up'
The Eurobodalla District Show Society is holding Save Our Show - SOS - on the weekend of January 23 and 24.
Our normal agricultural show has had to be changed to some extent because of the restrictions of the COVID rules. There will be no indoor events, which means all the Pavilion entries have had to be cancelled.
The rules mean that there can only be 40 people in the buildings at any one time and they must move in the one direction. We don't have enough volunteer workers to control this over two days.
However, we can have a larger crowd outdoors. Entry is free (we hope for some donations at the gate!)
The horse events are going ahead in the ring over both days and there are more than100 entries for the Campdraft Cut Out Competition on Saturday evening.
The Poultry Show will be held on Saturday and the Animal Nursery will be in place in the new Emergency Animal Shelter . The Pet Show will be held at 2.00pm. There will be food at the Canteen (lunch and evening meal on Saturday; lunch Sunday) and a coffee van and ice-cream van. CWA. members will have cakes on sale - lots of cakes.
Side shows will operate and there will be a jumping castle on Sunday. We plan to run competitions and fun events for children on both days.
The band The Shack Shakers will perform on Saturday from 6pm. Graeme Scobie will provide great music on Sunday.
The Antique Tractor Club and The Vintage Car Club are coming.
On Sunday , the main event is the Car Boot sale and market stalls. There is a $15 fee for cars and stalls.
We hope to see a large crowd as we need support. The show was cancelled at the last minute in January 2020 because of the bushfires, and now we are working out how to run it with COVID. We are definitely not giving up!
