There are high hopes the Clyde River waterfront will one day showcase the history of the area, via a heritage trail.

Several community groups have joined forces with Rotary Batemans Bay to support the idea.
The pictures in the gallery show some of the rich history of the waterfront, which might be brought to life via QR codes on walkers' smart phones.
"In 2016, Rotary initiated a committee to develop a concept plan for information signs from Smoke Point to Malua Bay," a Heritage Trail Committee spokesperson said.
"The committee had representatives from the Clyde River and Batemans Bay Historical Society, local residents, Batemans Bay Aboriginal Lands Council and Batemans Bay Rotary.
"The committee sought input and assistance from Eurobodalla Shire Council.
"The project is designed to inform the local community of our history and as an attraction for tourism.
"The committee developed a concept, standard theme for the artwork, and locations for the placement of signage for Stage 1 of a proposed heritage trail.
"These were brought together in a concept document that was shared with the Batemans Bay Business and Tourism Chamber and staff of Eurobodalla Shire Council."
Committee members recently met council staff.
"The Heritage Trail concept document was discussed with Council staff on Wednesday, January 13 this year by representatives of the Batemans Bay Heritage Museum, Rotary, Batemans Bay and the Batemans Bay Business and Tourism Chamber, and received enthusiastic support," the committee said.
The group also said it understood the signage would be installed by the end of 2021, however a Eurobodalla Shire Council spokesperson said timing would depend on the results of grant applications.
"One of the key tasks of the Batemans Bay Waterfront Master Plan and Activation Strategy is to prepare a thematic interpretation strategy for the waterfront area," the council spokesperson said.
"This strategy will reflect Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal stories, and guide things like interpretive signage and other elements that tell the story of the place.
"We're currently applying for grants to fund this work.
"Once funding is secured we look forward to working with key stakeholders, including the Heritage Trail group, to help us bring the waterfront to life."
