Tuross Head vets golf
Results for Wednesday, September 23.
Continuing the strong fields registering for Tuross Head Vets golf on a Wednesday, 63 players registered for the Single Stableford event this week.
Scores were again very competitive despite recent coring and sanding of the greens with four players equal top scoring on 24 Stableford points.
Count back results proved Chris Wratten to be the winner from runner up, Gail Rogers and Peter Coffey, with Gail's husband Len rounding out the last of the major prize winners.
Minor prizes went to Dorothy Madden, Steve Swanbury and David Williams on 23, Mike Birks, Ron Hanlon, Solveig Olsson and Ross Davidson on 22, Stephen Crossling, Bruce Ware, Margaret Downey, Gayle Macalpine, Terry Lunn and Greg Smith on 21, and finally Terry Swanbury on 20 after a six way count back.
Rick Brake took out the Bradman award, a three way count back being required on the day's lowest scores recorded.
BROULEE RUNNERS
Results for Wednesday, September 23.
The run has continued as an isolated event for the 28th week.
It is anticipated that we may be able to get together to run a 5-kilometre event on Wednesday, October 14 at 5pm.
A COVID safety plan is being developed and because of the need to keep social distance it is not safe at this stage to have the usual three events starting at the same time.
As restrictions are lifted, we can look at incorporating the other events.
The principle used at other distance running events is "Get in, Run, Get Out".
This means the usual socialising will not be possible.
There will not be any time restriction on people participating in the 5-kilometres.
Therefore, everyone is welcome to participate provided there is sufficient light to see only when it gets dark will the "hook come out".
Special mention is given to Andrew McPherson, whose family have an impressive 450 runs between them. He has a personal total of 228.
He is also a long-distance runner, bike rider, member of the surf club and bushfire hero.

CRICKET FAST APPROACHING
Far South Coast Cricket Association president, Charles Aggenbach, shared information on the upcoming season after inquiries were received.
"With the season fast approaching there has been some messages through to the Facebook page regarding season dates and club registrations," Aggenbach said.
"As this stage there is still a couple of association meetings to be held in the next couple of Mondays regarding Juniors and Senior rules changes.
Competitions start dates for senior cricket:
1st Division, round 1 - 17/10/2020
C Grade, round 1 - 17/10/2020
Under 15s - 24/10/2020
Under 13s - 24/10/2020 or 31/10/2020
Depending on team nominations the under 11s start date is Friday 30/10/2020 and Saturday 31/10/2020.
He said junior cricket dates were yet to be confirmed.
"[It's the] same as last year if south Eurobodalla nominate a team, your child's team will play on a Saturday morning otherwise they will play other teams on Friday night 4:30-4:45pm game," Aggenbach said.
"Day times will be left to clubs but no game will be allowed to start after 4:45pm."
"Women's competition will be longer this season, given the early indications that the same amount of teams will nominate and maybe a couple new ones.
"The season start date will be Sunday 29/11/2020, 10:30am as clubs have mentioned that if it can turn into a traditional home and away season however this start date will come down to team nominations."
