Sales of craft materials are booming and Bendigo Woollen Mills is selling three times its normal amount of wool.
One of those knitting away is Joy Rudd and she has been knitting for 80 years.
Currently she is making beautiful multicoloured wool socks for the Coastal Creative Appeal.
She belongs to a lovely group of people called the Mulberry Tree Knitters who used to meet at Marie's shop in Watson St Milton on Tuesday afternoons and help people with any knitting problems.
All the Mulberry Tree Knitters are making and donating socks to the Coastal Creative Appeal.
Wearing hand-knitted wool socks during a cold day is absolute luxury.
If not for yourself these would make ideal gifts for friends and family in the northern hemisphere for Christmas.
Coastal Creative Appeal is on at the Ulladulla Civic Centre on the Saturday and Sunday of the October Long Weekend and all the funds raised will be given directly to fire victims.
It is not too late to donate an artwork or piece of craft to the appeal.
