After emergency evacuations were issued by SES on Sunday evening, August 10, a council spokesperson said the flood activity, "was not as bad as it could have been".

"That's the verdict this morning after a weekend of wild and worrying weather," a council spokesperson said.

"The river is dropping nicely now with the tide.

"We've also had minor flood impacts in Nelligen village."

Council crews are clearing, repairing, and inspecting roads and bridges for damage, which had only recently been completed after the July floods.

The spokesperson said flooding in the Clyde, Moruya and Tuross river catchments has had more significant impacts in rural areas west of the highway, including isolating some properties.

"Thankfully, all river levels are now dropping," the spokesperson said.

"Our thoughts and care are with those cleaning up today.

"Huge thanks to NSW SES for keeping us safe, and our own crews out all weekend - legends all."

All shire sports grounds are closed today and tomorrow. An update would be issued on Wednesday.

North Head Drive, Moruya, has re-opened but many roads remain closed.
