Relationships Australia CEO Alison Brook has helped build the new team to run Batemans Bay's headspace service.

At a recent careers open day, she felt the community was very welcoming.

"We have been blessed by a huge response from the local community, people interested in what we are here to do and wanting to join us," she said.

"We know that post bushfire a lot of young people have poor mental health right now - we know headspace will provide a bit of the answer to that."

Ms Brook said headspace will provide outreach programs as far south as Narooma and north to Ulladulla.

She said headspace will work with other health services, schools and community organisations in the shire.

South Coast headspace general manager Tony Fraser said mental health issues from the bushfires and COVID were going to be "unfortunately ongoing".

"We won't be able to solve all the issues, but will play a major part in working with youth in this area," he said.

What's exciting for the region, Mr Fraser says, was the mobile service.

"We're looking at getting a full-size coach to go to smaller towns, opposed to people having to visit us at Batemans Bay," he said.

"We will be taking our counsellors, psychologists, dietitians, mental health clinicians out to the community."

Mr Fraser said there were plenty of ways for people to access the services.

"People are welcome to see us physically but we will have online opportunities via Zoom as well," he said.

"It's not a matter of having to make an appointment, you can just call for a chat and don't need to disclose who you are in the first instance."

Mr Fraser said the service would focus on helping 12-24 year olds, but also engaging parents. The location of Batemans Bay's headspace will be soon announced.
