Four inmates of the South Nowra Jail, charged as part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged introduction of contraband into the correctional facility, have appeared in court.

Ahmad Alameddine, 30, Edward Nassr, 42, Robert Sadek, 45, and Julal Vural, 28, faced a variety of charges when they appeared in Nowra Local Court before Magistrate Gabriel Fleming and Registrar Craig Cockburn on Monday, July 13.
Alameddine faces three counts of supplying a prohibited drug, corruptly give/offer to other benefit and knowingly/recklessly direct a criminal group.
Nassr faces two counts of corruptly give/offer to agent benefit and knowingly/recklessly direct criminal group assist crime.
Sadek faces two counts of corruptly give/offer to agent benefit, two counts of use or possess mobile phone/part etc in place of detention and knowingly/recklessly direct criminal group assist crime.
Vural faces two counts of supplying a prohibited drug (indictable quantity), two counts of supplying a prohibited drug and knowingly/recklessly direct criminal group assist crime.
In March 2020, detectives from the Corrective Services Investigation Unit established Strike Force Draymar to investigate reports of alleged corrupt activity by a male Corrective Services employee.
During the investigation, detectives charged 50-year-old Stephen James Adams, who was employed at the South Coast Correctional Centre as a prison officer, along with two women - aged 29 and 32.
All three remain before the courts.
Court papers said it is alleged Alameddine paid $5000, Nassr and Sadek $9400 each to the prison guard to bring contraband into the prison between April 2019 and 2020.
Vural is also charged with allegedly supplying 31.5 grams and 33 grams of methylamphetamine along with four grams of heroin and 15 grams of buprenorphine at Vincentia between April 12-15.
None of the men have entered pleas to the charges with Alameddine due to reappear in court on July 27, Sadek and Vural on August 3 and Nassar on August 24.
