There were congratulations all round when Rob and Haleigh Kidd announced they were taking over the reins of Southlands Butchers in Moruya from John and Robyn Gamble after 29 years.
Rob Kidd started work as an apprentice at Southlands Butcher's straight after leaving school and has worked there for 14 years.
"I decided to approach John about buying into the business, he gave it some thought and then offered me the whole shop," Rob said.
"I accepted and John trained me in the managers role for 12 months and we settled for Wednesday, July 1 for Haleigh and I to officially takeover."
"Everything will be much the same as it always has been," Haleigh Kidd said. "I'm sure the locals wouldn't want us to change anything.
"We will still be stocking and selling John's prime beef along with other local produce and we'll still be baking our home-made pies on the premises everyday."
The Kidd's said they would like to thank the Gamble's; John, Robyn and their family for all the long hours, hard work and endless love they poured into the shop over the last three decades.
