Batemans Bay Fire and Rescue has warned residents to clear dryers of lint after one caught fire at Surfside on Wednesday morning, April 29.

A Batemans Bay Fire and Rescue spokesman said lint had built up in the dryer, which caused an electrical short circuit in the motor.
The dryer caught fire, and Fire and Rescue was called to the scene about 10.40am.
The spokesman said it was important to regularly clean lint, clean chimneys and check smoke alarms ahead of the cold season.
Fire destroys south Bermagui home
Further south, two south Bermagui residents were lucky the fire that destroyed their house did not burn at night when they were asleep inside, South Coast Police said.
The occupants escaped the flames before the Tathra-Bermagui Road, Barragga Bay house burnt down about 2.30pm on Monday, April 27, police said.
Narooma Fire and Rescue acting captain Jason Hextell said Bermagui and Cobargo Rural Fire Service brigades were putting out the fire before Fire and Rescue arrived.
Firefighters wore breathing apparatus to protect themselves from the toxic fumes of burning furniture, plastics and asbestos.
It took the crews about two hours to completely extinguish the fire.
Police said the fire was not suspicious.
Mr Hextell said although it was unclear whether the smoke alarm was working, it was a reminder to check batteries, and to ensure chimney flues were clean.
He said the start to colder months could be a dangerous time for house fires, as residents used more heaters and fireplaces.

Far South Coast RFS spokesman Marty Webster said property owners should make sure burn-offs and pile burns were contained, and to notified the Fire Control Centre and your neighbours 24-hours beforehand.
