For those who usually pack up to go camping over Easter, a back-yard sleep out at home might be a better option.
A NPWS spokesperson said the closures were put in place following the limits on public gatherings to protect visitors and prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community.
"No camping is permitted in national parks from March 26, including wild and backcountry camping," the spokesperson said.
Most visitor centres and historic sites are closed (exceptions are in place for permanent residents living within historic sites).
The spokesperson said high-visitation areas (beaches, picnic facilities, popular lookouts, etc.) have closed and further closures may be undertaken following assessments on a case-by-case basis.
"As this is a rapidly changing situation, please check the NPWS Alerts page for closures in NSW national parks," the spokesperson said.
"The priority for the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) at this time is protecting the health and safety of our staff and visitors, and the broader community.
"We understand how important and significant these areas are for NSW community and are committed to making our parks fully accessible again as soon as possible when this emergency situation has passed."
