A man charged with allegedly possessing child abuse material has pleaded not guilty, but been refused bail, a South Coast court has heard.

Defence lawyer John Edmunds entered the not guilty plea on behalf of the 48-year-old, who was arrested in Merimbula on Tuesday, February 18.
At the hearing at Batemans Bay Local Court on Thursday, February 20, Magistrate Doug Dick requested a psychiatric report for the man in custody.
He will reappear at Bega Local Court on April 28.
