After a disappointing season, a suffering club culture, the bushfire crisis and floods, the committee feared they may not pull together a first grade side.
Club president Tony Nunn said it had been a rocky road.
"It did cross our minds whether we would make the park," he said.
However, the committee agreed to build a team and give back to the community.
"We wanted to give people something - an outlet after everything that has been going on," Nunn said.
Nunn encouraged Tigers supporters to dust off their orange and black and make it to the games - because this season will be one not to miss. He said the boys have been "busting their humps".
Captain-coach Brent Pike had the team working hard at training last week. With two new signings, he said things will "start turning around".
Former NRL player Craig Garvey will make his debut for the Tigers as well as Regan Carr who brings experience from the Canterbury Bulldogs U20s squad and hit outs in the SG Ball Cup and the NSWRL Harold Matthews Cup.
"They have played footy at a high level over the years and will bring a lot of experience and level-headedness," Pike said.
"We have a fairly young side, with only five or six players older than 25."
Pike said the two signings will bring a "new lease of life with footy".
The Tigers are determined to anchor themselves into the competition and have a solid run this year but the team needs a strong following.
"We need supporters back following the club, for it to be family-orientated where wives and kids can come and enjoy football," Pike said.
Last year, at home games, Tigers' supporter numbers matched that of the opposition.
Nunn said the focus this year was to win games and get the culture back. Nunn said their last premiership was 2002, with a crowd of 5000.
He hoped this year supporters will come out of the woodwork and band together.
"From what we've been through, we really need the support," he said.
