Tuross Head Country Club men's golfers competed in a par competition last Saturday with three players finishing with equal scores of plus 2 in a contest for first place.
Michael Hogan was awarded the winner on a countback with Bruce Brawn filling second position and Troy Kingdom third.
Kane Duncan and Peter Garn both finished on plus 1 to take out the remaining awards.
Balls were awarded down to a score of minus 1.
Nearest the pins were won by:
A grade player Stephen Walker on the 4th hole, Ken Brown on the 6th and C. Rowe was closest on the 7th hole.
B grade golfer Greg Booth was best on the 4th hole and Bruce Martin won the 6th hole.
R. McDonell won the 4th hole and Paul Medwin the 6th hole.
On Australia Day Sunday January 26th, club golfers Peter Mostyn and Paul Ferguson, have organised a two person Ambrose competition whereby the dark side of town challenges the beach side of town.
This memorial event will be for dedicated to Shoey and past members.
An invitation is extended to visitors and those not playing to wander down, watch some excellent golf, and to attend the presentation later in the afternoon.
Thursday's medley stableford competition was won by Robert McDonell with a score of 41 points.
George Studham, who also returned a card of 41, was placed second on a countback.
Colin Fletcher with 40 points and Trevor Inness with 39 points were the remaining place getters.
Nearest the pins were won by Jim Wade, Peter Garn and Brad Doolan.
Balls were awarded down to 35 points.
A strong field competed in the Tuross Head Country Club stableford competition on Saturday, January 11.
The field was welcomed by event sponsor George Studham who travels down from Cairns in North Queensland each year and is a strong club supporter.
Ron Rogers was the winner of the single stableford competition with 40 points edging out Brendan Taylor on a countback.
Tuross Head member and well known south coast golfer Colin Houghton filled third position with 39 points.
Colin also had the satisfaction of recording an eagle on the par 5 18th hole
Countbacks again featured in deciding the remaining award placings with John Eglitis and Michael Elfar also both carding 39 points.
Balls were awarded down to 35 points.
Nearest the pins were won by:
A grade golfer Leigh Coloe on the 4th hole, Ken Brown on the 6th and Bob Hay was closest on the 7th hole.
B grade best was Paul Scholze on the 4th, Ian Manton on the 6th and Paul Scholze also won the 7th.
Closest of the C grade players was Nigel Baring on the 4th, Herb Muriwai won the 6th and Shane Gschwend won the 7th hole.
Thursday, January 9, medley stableford competition was won by Mitchell McLean with 40 points ahead of Leigh Coloe, Graeme Bell and Trevor Jones who all finished on 39.
Nearest the pins were won by Wayne Fullerton who was closest on both the 4th and 6th hole.
Darrell Kildy won the 7th hole.

January 22: It was great to see clear skies & no smoke on Wednesday when the 61 Vet's hit off in a single stableford event. The very happy winner was - Henry Anderson with 23 points. Second place went to one of our regular visitors - Lachlan Nordsvan with 22 points. In third place it was - Graham Moore with 21 points & fourth place getter was - Jeanette Miller who also had 21 points. The Bradmans was awarded to a new member - Jenny Riley and the Accuracy Drive went to - Michael Nordsvan. Nearest the pins - 4th - Lachlan Nordsvan who scored a Hole in one. 6th - Bruce Martin. 7th - Leonie Snodgrass & Steve Swanbury (In the hole). Ball or chocolate went to - Terry Lunn, Peter McRae, Tim Starr - 20 points. Ian Wratten, Dorothy Madden, Blaise Madden, Steve Collins, Steve Swanbury - 19 points. Kevin Riley, Greg Smith, Leonie Snodgrass - 18 points. We also welcomed two new members - Jenny & Kevin Riley.
January 15: The event last week was one unique to Tuross Vets known as a Special Par, where scores below handicap result in multiple plus results. Winner on the day was Robert McKirdy who recorded a +3 on one hole on his way to a winning score of +8 for the 9 holes played. Runner up was Herb Muriwai on +6 on count back from Richard Kelly and Terry Challender with the same scores. Balls or chocolates were won by Bruce Martin and Neal Watson on +5, Sandra Hanlon, Neil Mather, John Cox and Steve Swanbury on +4, Barry Hoban and Les Johanson on +3, and finally Frank Pomfret, Peter MacDonald, Bruce Ware, Gail Rogers and Greg Smith all on +2. The Bradman award was won by Ron Hanlon. For the first time on record five players scored birdies on the 4th hole forcing a random draw to determine the winner, with the result going in Graham Moore's favour. Other NTPs went to Bruce Martin on the 6th, and to Dorothy Madden and Frank Pomfret on the 7th. Leonie Snodgrass won the Accuracy award.
