Well, life is gradually getting back to normal for some of us in the Bay ... but for those who lost their homes and businesses during these dreadful firestorms, I really feel for you. One thing I do know is that it has brought out the best in most of us and people are helping out their neighbours and are talking to strangers about their experiences and offering to help.

Shoot for the moon ... even if you miss, you will land among the stars.
Judy Stewart of Malua Bay was one of the many locals who lost everything on that dreadful New Year's Eve. Through friends of Jude's, two beautiful ladies from Ulladulla (and formerly of the Bay), sisters Jo Patton and Paula Storm got to hear about Jude and were able to present her with a new, lovingly made patchwork quilt, through their group "Healing Hands".
Jo and Paula have encouraged quilters and knitters they know to get together and produce beautiful pieces, so that people they know of can try to move forward with something new that they can wrap themselves in, with love.
June Carter of Broulee has just returned from a White Christmas in Canada with her family from Sydney, who enjoyed skiing at Silver Star Mountain Resort and Whistler. June made sure they would have a good Christmas, so took a small Christmas tree and and Aussie plum pudding with her. One of June's highlights was being picked up in a horse-drawn sleigh and taken to a restaurant for dinner.
Lee Marks from Surf Beach headed off to Sydney on Christmas Eve to spend Christmas and the New Year with friends in a Potts Point apartment. Lee really lived the High Life while there, spending countless hours at the Cruising Yacht Club, especially on Boxing Day, when the Sydney to Hobart yacht race started, and wining and dining at a lot of other well known restaurants.
From there, Lee flew to Canberra and was stuck there for a while until the Kings Highway reopened last week. She is home now and is getting into her much-loved garden.
Eunice Strong of Surf Beach just moved here the week before Christmas, and was wondering if she made the right move (while we were surrounded by fires). Her neighbours are helping her to settle in very well.
Birthday girls this week are June Carter and Rose Somerville on Wednesday, Robyn Hannon on Thursday and Lee Marks on Friday. Best wishes to all of you.
