Malua Bay Club was also lost in the fires but the greens were only singed a little and the greenkeepers have been working very hard to make them playable again.
Ladies were able to bowl last Tuesday so all very happy although there are no other facilities at present, but management have promised there will be in the near future.
There were 48 ladies on the green including some visitors from Tuross Head Club who came along to give support. Thank you ladies it was much appreciated you being with us.

Last Sunday there were 36 bowlers on the greens enjoying bowling along to some great music. Greens were very heavy after a good lot of rain so took quite an effort to bowl. Welcome as always to the Sunday Sippers from Malua Bay who have joined us.
Winners were those with lowest winning margin, Faye and Buddy Connor sharing a half game each and Barry Thurlow. Runners-up, Bob Starkovski and Brian Wheeler. Barry selected Rink 6 to try for Jackpot, with Pat Canny doing the honours, but could only come up with 2 of Hearts and no Joker. Breakfast Trays won on 26, Trish the Dish, 39, Snails.
Next Sunday there will be an early start with a Barbecue breakfast for Australia Day. Sunday afternoon the Men's club will be having a fund-raiser to support the firies so come along if you can, $10 person.
January 12:
President Steven Hogan welcomed everyone to a Happy New Year, although it has been a couple of very hard weeks with all the bushfire activity in our area . Well done Twisties for your donation to the Fire Appeal of $1,040 from the waving of green fees and donations. Steven made a special mention to all Malua Bay bowlers in attendance that they are always welcome after the tragic loss of their club. Secretary Jennie decided to give the "Wally" Award to husband Steven who lined up at 6am during the crisis to get petrol one morning, he was first in queue, only to find out he had forgotten to bring container for petrol. An understandable mistake in the situation we know Steven!! Winners were those with most winning ends. Jeanne Burgraff, Gaye and Barry Thurlow . Runners up, Jennie Hogan and Bob Starkovski. Barry selected Rink 14 to try for Jackpot, cards cut by Jennie Hogan but alas no Joker. Breakfast trays won by Ute Krook and Marlou Rollinson.

All local bowlers were impacted by the severe conditions caused by the fires on New Year's Eve. The Tomakin Sports and Social Club was forced to close due to the power backout, and this put social bowls and championships on hold for several days. It was sad to see our fellow club at Malua Bay destroyed by the fires, though they were fortunate to not lose their bowling greens.
It was heartening to see them out playing social bowls last Saturday. It is great to see our members have survived the recent events relatively unscathed and we look forward to a healthy bowls season on the green for 2020.
Social Bowls: Monday, January 13.
