A registration and information day will be held on Sunday, February 2, at 2pm at the Playhouse at 33 Gregory Street, Batemans Bay.
Youth Theatre Co-ordinator Lyn Sterling said she was looking forward to an exciting year with workshops that will explore many areas of performance art.
"Our aim is to provide a varied and ongoing program that will focus on encouraging participation in all facets of an on-stage production, giving the workshop members a chance to investigate and to explore the art of performing in a fun, relaxed, non- threatening environment," Lyn said.
"I encourage anyone who has children interested in the performing arts to come along and find out what the workshop series may have to offer your child."
Youth Theatre is a highly successful and important part of the Bay Theatre Players.
The 2019 Youth Theatre production The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe enjoyed a sold-out season and earned an amazing seven Canberra Area Theatre (CAT) award nominations.
More than 30 children and young people were involved in the show, most of whom had been attendees at the 2019 Youth Theatre workshops, a great way to introduce and prepare the youngest members of BTP to a real show in front of a real audience.
From mid-February 2020, the Youth Theatre workshops will run weekly on a Sunday afternoon during school terms and will be open to children and young adults aged 8 to 18 years.
The activities covered in the workshops are determined by the area of interest of the attendees, and can cover script reading, stage presence and character building and the roles of backstage and production crew.
These theatre activities are fun for young people and they will get to spend time with old friends, make new friends and work on projects that will culminate in the excitement of performing on stage in an end-of-year showcase.
The Youth Theatre Information and Registration Day will kick off at 2pm on Sunday, February 2, and all young people interested in exploring the performing arts, having fun and being creative are invited to come along.
