The Theatre is currently in a period of annual maintenance in preparation for some amazing theatre later in the year, which will include a musical, a farcical comedy and a youth showcase.
Being involved in theatre has so many rewards, including making new friends, using your creativity, and being part of a community that works together and has a lot of fun.
To those in our area who want to be involved in theatre, but perhaps not on stage, there are so many other opportunities to be part of the Bay Theatre Players group.
Here are some really important ways you can be involved:
Help out the backstage crew:
A lot of the action happens behind the curtain and working in the backstage area is a great way to get involved, especially if you aren't keen on being on the stage.
Be a Front of House usher:
This is perfect if you like to interact and have a chat with people. You will get to see the show and as well as go behind the scenes.
Help with set and prop building:
If you are any good with a hammer or a paint brush, this is a a key contribution to the theatre. Setting the scene and bringing the story to life is hugely important to a successful production.
Help with Costume making:
BTP are always looking for people with sewing skills, to create all kinds and genres of costumes for our productions. Animals, fairies, and medieval soldiers are just a few of recent times.
Join our monthly play explorations:
Every month, BTP holds an evening to explore a play as a group, to determine whether it might be a production that BTP would be interested in staging for the public. Its lots of fun, has great variety and gives those involved a real opportunity to influence what theatre is presented by BTP.
The Bay Theatre Players invite and encourage anyone interested in trying out theatre to join us.
For more information, see our website www.baytheatreplayers.org.au, join our new facebook page or talk to one of our experienced committee members.
In 2020, Youth Theatre workshops will commence in February for people 8-18 years of age. If interested, contact Lyn on 0416 181 003.
