Most residents evacuated the area before the fire came through, though some home-owners chose to stay and protect their property.
Some houses were saved, but at least a dozen structures were lost on the two streets.
On New Year's Day, fallen power and phone lines littered the street while residents tried to clean up what they could and extinguish burning bush.
That morning, Phoebe Russell, of Narooma, returned to her family's Kauzal Way home.
The home was one of the few that did not burn on that street.
Phoebe was doing all she could to save a kangaroo with burnt feet, who could not stand up, in their backyard.
